We have discussed in this blog about leadership, people management, attitude, time management and more. We also read about being a leader at home, leading as an individual contributor, or leader of a team.

Exercise2If there is a leader in all of us in some way or the other, sometimes I fail to understand why we can’t recognize that maintaining good health is as important for self, family, and work.

Most of us experience work pressure, quotas to meet, deadlines, long hours, too much travel, bad eating habits, poor work-life balance – It has become a way of life now.

According to me, there are 3 main goals people usually work for – recognition, money and family! Well, you can add more and change the order of preference too, but it will revolve around these 3 and if you start analyzing deeply, you will find that most of the people will keep family as first priority and the reason for working, earning, going through the above pressures and trying to achieve goals/targets in these tough economic situation.

Hence,

  • It is important to keep fit specially in these tough times because walking, running, exercising or playing a sport you like can keep our mind under control, ease the pressure from work, feel less tired when we are back home and get good sleep
  • Don’t wait for doctor to advise or health-check results to warn us, take that step now – go, walk in a park, run in the neighborhood or join the gym
  • Exercise1If somebody is complaining that they are too busy, try taking out 10-15 minutes to a nice brisk walk every day, you will start seeing the difference
  • If you are claiming that you would rather spend those 30 minutes with your family, please take them along (worst case after dinner), even the spouse would need the same activity and exercise as we do
  • Jobs will come and go, economic situation will eventually get better, but age, health and time with your loved ones will never come back if you don’t take control of your mind and body now

Yes, we see some people exercise and/or play and lot of them don’t – I strongly feel leadership and time management has a huge role to play in how do we take control of our health and lives – what do you think? I would suggest go LOVE & LEAD YOURSELF!

    When we are physically fit, we can think better, be calm in difficult situations; we are more alert and are able to grasp and retain more information. Our confidence level soars. Physical fitness also ensures longevity and a disease-free life. Along with physical flexibility which comes with exercise, we become mentally flexible too – adapting to various situations with ease – which is very essential to lead a happy and fulfilling life.
    So go ahead and start exercising today.
